About Us
Background
Good Neighbours Ministry was founded in 2009. The co-founders Bishop George Kibe and Reverend Grace Kibe have always had a heart for people. When the couple moved to Theta Judah, in Ruiru Kenya in 2009, they saw the need to preach the gospel to the community and support the children around them, majority of whom are in vulnerable situations. This is why they started the Good Neighbors ministry (church, school and the rescue center) with an aim to reach out to the community by preaching the word Of God, providing quality and affordable education and providing a home to children formerly living in the streets as well as orphans.
The founding of the ministry was well achieved, since both founders have worked in Church ministry and mission work for over 20 years. The couple had also been prior employed at a Children’s home in Ruiru where they gained more understanding, experience and inspiration that led to the establishment of the Judah Excellence Junior School and the Home Kickstart Children’s Home. In addition to this, Bishop George brought in special skills in managing these institutions and counselling young people while Reverend Grace is a teacher by profession, also gifted in caregiving.
Judah Excellence Junior School is a privately educational facility located in a small community in Juja, Kenya. The school offers both the competency-based curriculum (CBC) and 8:4:4 curriculum to under-privileged and vulnerable groups of children and youth in Kenya. The school is anchored on the principle of combining academic training with life skills enhancement programs in order to engender skilled and responsible citizenry amongst vulnerable communities. The main aim of the school is to provide quality education to less privileged youth and children.
Our school accomplishes its goals by providing a friendly and supportive environment, suitable for nurturing personal growth besides increasing opportunities and diversity amongst communities. We are happy to provide a place where young people from all walks of life can excel both academically and ethically.
To further support our target group (school-going children and youth), we have established a children’s home called “Home Kick Start”. This establishment provides food, clothing, shelter and learning materials for the homeless pupils attending Judah excellence Junior School. The children’s Home is committed to caring for children who have no guardians as well as those who are from unstable or abusive homes. We also care for all children between the ages of 4 and 18 years irrespective of their health status and other personal conditions.
Home Kick Start children’s home advances our mission by providing vulnerable youth with love and instilling in them hope for a future. Indeed, many of our visitors have made the following remark, “You are not an orphanage, you are a Home”.
